Team owner and driver Alex McBain served in the elite U.S. Army’s 2nd Ranger Battalion. He and his sons opened Universally Modified Performance building on their passion for horsepower and racing after more than a decade on the racing circuit. Through racing, Alex identified something about racing that filled a void left by leaving the military. “Two of the biggest hurdles when re-entering civilian life after Ranger Battalion were the loss of mission, and the loss of the team. Motorsports offers both,” says Alex. This drove him to develop the Veterans Motorsports Program that connects veterans with various opportunities to get involved in motorsport at any skill or ability level. From driving to marketing, crew to hospitality, there is room for everyone to get involved!

Team Driver Ryan McBain is the son of owner/driver Alex McBain. Ryan McBain currently races in the H-Production class for the SCCA as well as e-motorsports on iRacing. Ryan McBain most recently finished his 2022 season with 3 wins, 4 2nd place finishes, 4 3rd place finishes and numerous top 10 finishes. Ryan also finished 2nd overall in the MARRS Championship and 5th in the NeDiv Championship. Ryan aims to leverage his knowledge about racing and his expereince with the SCCA to help Veterans who participate in our programs.
